Random rants from a techie geek

A few days ago HTC released their new handset, the HTC HD2, in Europe.  This phone is extraordinary because of several things, mainly because it is the first Windows device to feature a capacitive screen. This results in a range of differences from all previous Windows handsets, e.g. the fact that it supports multi touch and comes without a stylus.

Additionally, the device is -much- quicker than what we’ve ever seen before on the Windows Mobile / Windows Phone Platform. It comes with the ARM Snapdragon CPU, which runs at a staggering 1 Ghz. Previous models ran at 528 Mhz. On top of that, the amount of RAM has been boosted as well.

The big question is, how does this new HTC handset stack up against the Apple iPhone. Since it was released, the iPhone has more or less been the device all others needed to measure up to. There are three different iPhone generations, but here we will focus on the most recent of them, the iPhone 3GS.

As you may or may not know, Windows Media Player has the ability to share media files over the network, enabling other people to play your music and videos in their own Media Player application. This is pretty similar to what iTunes does as well.

I recently bought a new Windows Mobile phone, this time the HTC Touch Pro2. I’ve been using WM phones for several years now, and I’ve always been more than pleased with them.
